Welcome
To Cedarburg Festivals
The
many annual events sponsored by Festivals of Cedarburg, Inc. are
located in downtown Historic Cedarburg and are known throughout
the Midwest for rollicking good times, terrific music and entertainment,
juried arts and crafts fairs and wacky contests. The entire downtown
of Historic Cedarburg was named to the National Register of Historic
Places in the mid-1980s. The charm of old stone houses, churches
and retail establishments coupled with handsome Victorian buildings,
constructed in the mid-1800s and lovingly restored, is why Cedarburg
was named winner of the "Most Distinctive Architecture"
designation in the 2008 Wonders of Wisconsin competition sponsored
by the Wisconsin Department of Tourism. This architecturally charming
city makes a lovely backdrop for Cedarburg Festivals
The first event of the year, Winter
Festival, was begun 36 years ago as an antidote to winter
time cabin fever. Dates for the next Winter Festival are February
13 & 14, 2010. There is always a silly theme for this weekend
festival, in 2009 it was "A Winter's Knight" a salute
to the dragon-slayers of olde. In 2010 is will be a Valentine's
theme. Festival features include an Ice Carving Contest, Bed Racing
Contest, Chili Contest, a Parade, Hayrides, Pancake Breakfast
and the Cool Blues & Brews evening event.
Summertime fun in Cedarburg celebrates the strawberry. Strawberry
Festival, always the fourth week of June, will be June 27-28,
2009. This 24th annual festival is all about the "Arts on
the Avenue" arts and crafts shows, the Plein
Air Painting Competition the Youth
Plein Air Painting Contest and of course, everything strawberry.
Cedar Creek Winery highlights their Strawberry Blush wine while
delicacies range from strawberry shortcake, strawberry pie, strawberry
slush, chocolate-covered strawberries and even strawberry brats.
There are lots of bands throughout the Historic District all weekend
long. Kids will have fun in the park with activities and contests.
More than 100,000 happy festival-goers attended last year.
The 2nd annual event celebrating the German heritage
of Cedarburg's founding fathers. German
Festival will be located in Cedar Creek Park, July 18 &
19, 2009. Authentic German Bands, Dancers, a live Cuckoo Clock
Show, a Sheepshead Tourney, funny Contests, German Food and Specialty
Beers will demonstrate the fun-loving side of our friendly hospitality,
known as Gemuetlichkeit. Come polka with us!
Our autumn weather is perfect for the 36th Annual Wine
& Harvest Festival, September 19-20, 2009. This colorful
weekend is loaded with the bounty of fall. A Farmer's Market,
"Arts on the Avenue", Cedar Creek Winery's award-winning
wines, a Scarecrow Contest, Giant Pumpkin Regatta, Live Bands,
Food Courts, Grape Stomping and Apple Bobbing contests make this
a must for a beautiful fall getaway.
